Choose Yourself Love!

Image
Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and let's have a little heart-to-heart talk about something that might be weighing on your mind: toxic relationships. Yep, I know it's not the most pleasant topic, but stick with me because I promise there's hope and wisdom to be found in the midst of it all. We are often taught the importance of love, forgiveness, and selflessness. While those are undoubtedly beautiful qualities to embody, sometimes we misunderstand what they truly mean in the context of relationships, especially toxic ones. There's this misconception that staying in a toxic relationship is somehow noble or selfless. We tell ourselves we're patient, forgiving, and enduring, just like Jesus taught us. But here's the thing: Jesus never intended for us to endure toxicity in the name of love. In fact, He desires so much more for us. In the Bible, we're reminded time and time again of our worth and value in God's eyes. We're called His beloved child...

Embracing Growth: How to take Correction

Image
As Christians, we are to live a life that is pleasing to God. Part of this journey involves being open to correction and guidance from others. While it can be challenging to receive correction, it is an essential aspect of our spiritual growth.  When talking about correction, you need to know that God uses various means to guide and shape us, including the wisdom and counsel of others. Proverbs 12:1 reminds us, " Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid." We should approach correction with a humble heart, understanding that it can come from God Himself or through the loving concern of fellow believers. Taking correction requires humility. It can be tempting to become defensive or prideful when our flaws or mistakes are pointed out. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to imitate His humility. Philippians 2:3-4 encourages us, " Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above you...

5 Powerful scriptures and confessions to speak and meditate on if you want a consistent devotional life.

Image
Happy Friday Family💞 I had a post slated for today, but the Holy Spirit brought to mind that it would be essential to share scriptures and confessions you can use (speak) daily like medicine, especially in this season where I'm talking much on devotion because scripture says in Philippians 2:13 that ''God works in you both to will and to do his good pleasure'' but for God to work in you you have to be willing. You have a part to play in putting God’s word in your heart, like a seed that would germinate and bring forth fruits.  If you have been thinking of how to curate scriptures and confessions for your use, look no further. Speak these scriptures and confessions over yourself, meditate on them continually, and you will begin to see changes. 1. Scripture : Psalm 119:105       " Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. "     Confession : I declare that God's Word is my guiding light. It illuminates my path and directs my steps each day....

Devotional Dilemmas: Luxury or Necessity

Image
Your devotional life sits pretty as a mere mental asset, yet you subconsciously marginalize it rather than work at it because you may not understand its necessity. As a believer, one of the things I struggled with was moving from desire to doing in my devotional life. I mean, it’s very easy to stay, wish, and dream to be that stable child of God, but when it comes down to doing, most of us lose steam. We rely on procrastination, structure and excuses, set up unrealistic and unattainable structures, delay those routines and give excuses for our lack of commitment to building a sustainable relationship with our Father, God. We enjoy the luxury of mental satisfaction, the pictures of our end result. If only we got down to working it out. You love the image of that sound teacher you are in your head, yet when your alarm rings for bible study, you hit snooze. People say , “Oh, I’m starting the 30-day fast next month,” or ” I’m going to pray three hours every day from next week .” When the t...

February's Farewell

Image
Hey family, As we move into the new month, I wanted to leave YOU a note. Read this; “January had a lot of steam. February may have given you one or two punches here and there, but pick yourself up. They say the third time is a charm, right? Lol. But on a more serious note, be honest with yourself this month. Address the real issues. Don’t let issues from 2023 linger; fix them permanently. If it’s going to hurt, let it hurt and heal while we take progressive steps toward the 2024 you planned to have.  Don’t let yourself down in March,  Don’t end the month saying ''I knew I could’ve done better'', do it. I definitely will be better this month, so join me.  Set realistic goals you can commit to. Small but mighty goals. Let March make a difference in your year. Don’t let anybody be your excuse for why March didn’t work out. You have everything within you. God has given you infinite abilities. Stop pulling yourself down with excuses. Get up and fight for your future...

How to give constructive criticism to the one you love

Image
Dating is a beautiful journey where two mature individuals come together to discover if they are compatible and shape themselves into the better versions for their purpose in marriage(you see, I said for their purpose in marriage because marriage has a part to play in fulfilling God's agenda for marriage) but what happens when you value your partner's feelings over their future?  (p.s. This is my last post on love for February; let us leave romance and read Romans; thanks. I know, not funny, lol) When you find your person, you get this beautiful feeling; the world pops with vibrancy. The grass is greener, the air is purer, this jolt of electricity runs through you when you are with them, or you think about them, then you say to yourself, ''I don't know how, but I want to be everything right to and for this person'. Then you start dating and begin to see the things you never saw. A wise woman once said  love is not the feeling you feel when you feel a feeling you...

Let Love Heal

Image
Your first image of love and support is often your Family.  From the moment we're born, our families determine our view on care and affection. They teach us about love, kindness, and acceptance. Their words and actions can profoundly impact our self-esteem and how we view ourselves. When our families show us love and acceptance, it helps us develop a strong foundation of self-love. They celebrate our achievements, embrace our quirks, and encourage us to be authentic. Their unwavering support creates a safe space to be ourselves without fear of judgment. But what if our family dynamics aren't so positive?  Sometimes, families can unintentionally contribute to feelings of self-doubt or low self-worth. Maybe there's criticism or comparison, or they struggle with their insecurities and fail to manage their expressions. It's important to remember that this isn't your fault. You deserve love and acceptance just as much as anyone else. Building self-love in challenging fam...
