A NEW HEART

      


    How many of us can remember what it felt like after we gave our lives to Christ genuinely? You know that there is a new appetite for devotion and prayer that wasn't there before, the openness to the move of the spirit and the joy of fellowship, that genuine desire to serve God and the ease in your heart to do it. What you have received according to Ezekiel 36:26-27;

‘’And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender responsive heart. And I will put my spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations’’.

          is a New heart. When you get something new you either learn how to use it or how to prepare it for use. With a new heart, you have to learn how to prepare it for use, because beyond us being evangelists(people that are meant to spread the word of change), that word is to first change us then through us change our world. 

    Salvation is not that of changed appearance or physical structure but it's first that of changed desires. What changes is your response to the things of God? It's so important that you know this because if you understand what you have, it will help you live on the level you are meant to as a child of God.

POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEW HEART

1.       IT’S A PROCESS

          Understand that you are in a walk with God, not a sprint it's going to take time, Some new believers are so eager to practise what they have learnt. they step out of the oven half-baked, this doesn’t mean that you must know everything in the bible to work with God but know that God's desire for you is that you grow in Knowledge of who he is and who you are in him. So now, you are no longer a believer who goes out to do what the bible has said because that’s what the bible has said but by staying in devotion and fellowship with God you have grown to understand why the bible says what it says; you now have REVELATION KNOWLEDGE.  The truth is that this doesn’t happen overnight you will spend your time and that is a sacrifice you must make. It won't be easy but it will be worth it, now you must learn to stay in fellowship and not do the 1-minute, plus Jesus minus Satan prayer, you must WALK.

2.       BE VULNERABLE/ALLOW THE PROCESS (MATTHEW 26; 36-46)

          I used to feel bad when I get sad or feel overwhelmed as if I am no longer spiritual when down or shaken. Yes, there should be a time in God where certain situations should never shake you but when the load is heavy you can still fall at Gethsemane and tell your father that the cup is too heavy to drink from. God can't help the picture-perfect person you present. Learn to cry before your father, pour out all to him, and talk to him outside of prayer, your relationship should be you wearing your heart on your sleeve before him so he can help keep your emotions safe. Vulnerability brings you deeper, it gives you strength because after you have cried for the cup to pass over you get boldness and strength that comes from vulnerability before the father and say the hour and time of darkness has come.

3. TEND TO YOUR HEART (Romans 12;2).

          This new heart (mind& spirit) needs basic things to function, if your car doesn’t have its necessities it's going nowhere. No matter how you shout I’m no longer a slave to sin, if you don’t put your body under subjection through training, you will still be a slave to sin. The necessities you need;

1. The revelation of the word

2. Prayer

3. Fasting: Fasting is beyond abstinence, more important in fasting is what you are fasting for and what you are doing during that period to fellowship with God.

4. A daily devotional life; We have so many woke believers, too deep to read our bibles and pray every day. Grace is NO reason for laziness. There are things you will never reach in God without discipline.

          You must train the heart like a muscle, so you are completely furnished with knowledge and power (1 Corinthians 15:31, Galatians 2;20, Galatians 5:24), you need to take care of the New spirit you have. This is where everything you will ever need will be sourced from so it has to be up to spiritual standard.

4. TRUST WITHOUT DOUBT (MARK 11:23)

    We must never become too deep to have a child’s faith. To walk with God, you must have baby faith this means taking God at his word. You must learn to trust God with his instructions. How do you know what God has said is true? Test it by his word. God is his word, God's word is his will manifest, so if it’s a word from God you may not understand the instruction and where it is going but if it is consistent with the character of God as written in scripture then that’s it! Run with it. From baby faith, you will develop crazy faith.

5. UNDERSTAND THE ‘WILL’ AND THE ‘DO’ (PHILIPPIANS 2:13)

    You can't do it by yourself, you are dead to sin so to live like one dead to sin, do your part and let God do his. when you understand that when you do your part which is to will and do, God will release the grace for you to will and do his good pleasure. You are going gain so much strength from heaven to do all that you couldn't. 

    Where you leave God in your life is where he will stay. If you decide to carry a load of sin on your back go ahead but when you realise you are carrying a dead man, you will drop him a walk free that’s what Christ has come to do, when you trust him he helps get rid of the dead man and releases grace for you to walk free. 

It’s like a man carrying a heavy bag full of dirty, nasty items, until someone tells him "this bag is of no use drop it", you will waste he will waste his time and energy with something useless. Sin and light cannot co-exist, it's not a contest or show of power. It may take a while but consistently flood yourself with the light of God's word and walk in it, THAT'S WHAT WILL CHASE THE DEVIL OUT......Watch out for Part two next week.
